BACKGROUND

Redsea is a modern, secure, and user-friendly money transfer application designed to facilitate seamless transactions locally and internationally. The app aims to provide a reliable platform for individuals and businesses to send and receive money efficiently with minimal fees and maximum security. The focus is on accessibility, transparency, and user trust.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

In the fintech market, fees for both international and local transactions can be overwhelming for users, coupled with the unintuitiveness of many applications. Users want to be able to stay on top of their transfers, seeing fees clearly with no hidden charges, actively monitoring changes in currency, and understanding the rate paired with each fee.

How can we make this happen for our users? Perhaps through clearer rates, more transparent fees, and a more intuitive design.

Research: My approach to the project began with market research into the African remittance and payments space, analyzing competitors such as TapTap Send, Grey, and Chipper Cash to understand common user pain points, including high fees, unclear exchange rates, slow transfers, and a general lack of trust in digital financial platforms.

Ideate: I explored user flows that reduce friction during onboarding and transactions, ensuring that fees, exchange rates, and transaction statuses are always visible and easy to understand.

Design: The final design translates these ideas into a clean, modern interface with a strong visual hierarchy and intuitive interactions, positioning Redsea as a reliable and user-friendly solution for cross-border payments in Africa.
